Trials for Jackson, King set
Tentative trial dates have been set in the Second Judicial District for two men indicted on charges of general fraud and false pretense.
Dr. Harvey Jackson, who currently serves as a member of the Cleveland School District Board of Trustees, and Rev. Jack King of Mound Bayou are alleged to have carried on a fraudulent scheme involving two people with monetary figures over $200,000.
Jackson’s trial date has beet scheduled for Nov. 14 inside the Bolivar County Courthouse in Cleveland. The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office will be prosecuting the case in front of Judge Charles Webster.
King’s trial has been scheduled for Nov. 21 inside the Bolivar County Courthouse in Cleveland and the AG’s office will prosecute in front of Judge Johnnie Walls.
Both men are accused of taking investor money for Lampton Street Church of Financial Services under the guise the money would be invested. According to the indictment, Lampton Street Church of Financial Services did not exist.
Jackson and King were both released on $25,000 bond.
The fall court docket for the Second Judicial District has been set and begins on Nov. 7 with Charles Allen Pritchett’s trial up first. Pritchett was charged with murder and aggravated assault for the 2009 fatal stabbing of Ladonia Graham in Mound Bayou. His case has been continued multiple times since originally indicted. Senior Circuit Court Judge Albert Smith III has the bench for the first week.
