The Economic Development Foundation’s Annual Meeting and Salute to Industry, which is normally held during May, has been scheduled for Thursday at the Port of Rosedale-Bolivar County.

“The event is normally held around May but with all the floods we pushed it back,” James Glorioso, EDF chair, said.

EDF, an arm of the Cleveland-Bolivar Chamber of Commerce formally known as the Industrial Development Foundation, annually salutes an individual or industry for their impact on the county. This year’s recipient is Rosedale native Rev. J.Y. Trice.

“We’re honoring Dr. Trice because he’s one of the original founders of the port,” Glorioso said. “We want to salute him. Dr. Trice has done a lot for the port. He’s done a lot for helping businesses in town and he has great influence throughout the state and in Washington D.C.”

Glorioso added, “He’s a great person to have on our side.”

This year’s event will be held inside the warehouse at the Port and hors d’oeuvres and drinks will begin at 5:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. a catfish dinner will be served.

The event will be attended by numerous local leaders, but also important visionaries from across the Mississippi River in Arkansas who help partner with local officials.
