About The Cleveland Current ….
 
 
The debut edition of The Cleveland Current was published on Sunday, March 8, 2009.  It was the first Sunday newspaper in the history of Cleveland, Mississippi. 
 
From 2009 until 2017, almost 4,000 copies of the newspaper were distributed to subscribers and newspaper vending machines in Bolivar County, Mississippi.  
 
The Cleveland Current won many awards including a significant award from the National Newspaper Association that was presented to the newspaper staff in Omaha, Nebraska.
 
The owner and publisher of The Cleveland Current was J. Scott Coopwood, a seventh generation Mississippian. 
 
After the daily 104 year old Bolivar Commercial closed in April 2020, Coopwood returned to the newspaper business so Cleveland and Bolivar County would have a newspaper and in May 2020 he launched The Bolivar Bullet. This newspaper is published every Wednesday and it is the newspaper of record for Cleveland and Bolivar County, Mississippi.
